Hello Folks!
It's that time of year where we offer a second round of conferences. They
are the blue paper going home in your child's backpack today. We try our
best to schedule siblings first so those families aren't coming in at 8am,
11am, and 6pm. If the time chosen for you won't work please call the office
to reschedule. Now, if you are in the classroom often and feel sufficiently
informed about their progress you may chose to not have a conference.
Please indicate on the blue paper and send it back as soon as you can so we
can get ready to share how wonderful your child is with you.
Thanks so much!

The shoe lesson
Yesterday we were so lucky to have Mr. Nick come in to teach us a lesson on empathy. He had a cart on wheels and a bunch of shoeboxes to choose from. Every set of shoes had a different story that Mr. Nick read to the class. We got to "walk in other people's shoes" and think hard about how that person must be feeling. Check out the pictures! We had a blast.

Leprechauns are tricky people...
We read a wonderful book yesterday in anticipation of today. It had great extensions for vocabulary, predicting, sequencing, author's purpose and of course a sneaky leprechaun. After the book we decided to make a trap and see if we could trick the leprechaun into our classroom. We even wrote signs to entice the wee man into our room. Can you believe who broke into our room and made a mess out of the traps???
Ask your kiddo who the characters were. Also ask them the order of places of where the "wee man" hid his gold. Did they trick the "fairy man" into giving up his pot of gold? Was he really lying?
We added signs to make sure to trick the leprechaun inside.
That stinker tracked paint and glitter all through the classroom!!

Math Night was last Thurday
Did you miss out on Math Night? That's okay, here are a few pictures of what you missed. If you are questioning what you might have learned, please email me or stop by and I'd be happy to give you some information. I could even send home a math game to play!
The clock walk (think cake walk with clock prizes instead of cake) was the biggest hit of all! The raffle for prizes (like board games and a year membership to OMSI) was a close second.
Our kindergarten math center, with both Bridges curriculum and supplemental materials. We had plenty of games for kids to play and lots of materials that students got to explain to their parents.
I dressed up as Zero the Hero. Who was your child? Genius Math Wiz?
We had a lot of fun at the other grade tables as well. I hope to see you at math night next year!
