Our partnership with Mr. Nick

Hello All!

Mr. Nick has contacted me about putting together some small groups of kindergarteners and first graders to work on specific skill sets that are helpful regardless of age. If anyone would like their child to be included in one of these groups please let me know and we can get them ready to go. This is a great opportunity to work with peers, make new friends, and learn something new. I really recommend taking your time and considering one that would be beneficial to your child.

Here is a break down of what the groups are in Mr. Nick’s own words.

“Small Groups will consist of 4-6 students and will meet once a week for anywhere from 4-8 weeks. The group itself will be 20-30 minutes in duration and will include students of the same age or close to. So far the group topics I have curriculum your age group (K-2) include:

Friendship: this group may focus on acknowledging and strengthening our friendship qualities we have to offer others , how to communicate with others, building friendly behaviors, and dealing with friendship problems.

School success skills: in this group we will develop our listening and attending skills, as well as learn a about organization as well as receive age-appropriate study tips.

Behavior: the focus of this group will be learning about anger and attention seeking behavior and tips on how we can control them (fingers crossed!).

Self concept: this group will focus on appreciating our strengths and the things we do well, and then develop positive thoughts and skills to handle when things don't go right.

Once referrals are made a small group permission slip will go home with the student and it must be signed and returned before the student can participate in the group.”

Thank you so much! I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Cheers
