Good morning and happy Monday!
I hope you all had a restful break.
We are ready to jump back into school
this week with a Storyline unit on community. We will be looking into what
makes a community, problem solving, and differentiating our wants versus needs.
As the kids are looking at jobs in the community we have an opportunity to dive
a little deeper and let the kids explore jobs our community needs. If you have time on January 14th
to come into school we’d love to have you come and talk a little about what you
do. It’d be great if you could tell us your job title, what you do, and how you
think it adds to your community.
The next
day, January 15th, we will take a trip to the Portland Children’s
Museum to further explore community jobs and the workspaces that those jobs
need. We’d love to have you with us! We have five parent chaperone spots open
for the first parents who let me know that they are available to come. If you have the time for us we’d need you to
lead a group of 3-5 students around the museum. Let me know ASAP because we
only have five spots. We will be at the museum from 9:30-11:30. We will not
have lunch there, but because our schedule will be so tight coming back
everyone will need to bring a sack lunch. We will most likely miss our lunchtime
so we will be eating in the classroom when we get back.
We have so
much learning to do and so much fun to have! I cannot wait to get started!
Do you have people coming on Wednesday to talk about their careers? I am available if you need me. Just call or email me and I can bring some things.
